The wise woman.

Proverbs 14:1 "The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down."

This verse totally stuck out to me today and I would love some feedback.

What does this mean to all of you woman?

1. How would a wise woman build up her house?

2. How would a "foolish" woman tear hers down?

3. How can we avoid becoming that "foolish" woman?

  1. How interesting that no one responded to this blog. Wonder why? Perhaps you’d consider elaborating on how this verse impacted you Nicole? Your insights are always worthwhile.

I believe that a wise woman builds up her house (the sphere in which she lives) with patience, encouragement & a contented spirit. And a foolish woman tears her’s down with impatience, criticism & discontentment.

I have been intentional for years regarding the battles I’m willing to fight & the kinds of relationships I desire to cultivate. Some battles are crucial ... some are not worth the relational cost. People matter more than anything else. For me, being careless about my relationships drags me closer to being a foolish woman than I want to be. Therefore it is wisest for me to pay close attention to my attitudes & actions towards the people who are important to me. Then my “house” is strong & welcoming.

  2. Thanks for commenting mom, I love it, you hit the nail on the head. :)

I think the biggest thing that hit me was the fact that MY hands (attitude, actions, ect.) are what directly effect my family and those in my "home" circle. I am amazed at how fast that I can find myself hitting the foolish button and reacting quickly and regretting it.

I loved this verse not only for the reminder to not be foolish with what God has given me the responsiblily to steward properly but also I was hugely encouraged at the fact that when we function in wisdom and humility(add that point in there) we have the power to build up our "house" (family, friends and those who you are in contact with)
