Lioness Arising Recap - Session 6

Lioness Arising Session 6

Greet and Groom

Lions greet one another with face to face contact to look for the fragrance of the pride.

They also groom each other which forms a bond that removes the dirt that they cannot reach themselves.

Both of these routines speak volumes to one another saying, "You are welcome here and belong to us. Come discover who you are within the safely of our pride. Make mistakes and grow with ease among us."

Jude 1:2 (MSG)
Relax, everything’s going to be all right; rest, everything’s coming together; open your hearts, love is on the way!

In the company of friends we need to have a  greeting that allows others to relax in our presence.

2 Cor. 13:12
And that’s about it, friends. Be cheerful. Keep things in good repair. Keep your spirits up. Think in harmony. Be agreeable. Do all that, and the God of love and peace will be with you for sure. Greet one another with a holy embrace. All the brothers and sisters here say hello.  The amazing grace of the Master, Jesus Christ, the extravagant love of God, the intimate friendship of the Holy Spirit, be with all of you.

Greet each other with a holy embrace. That doesn't mean to do the side hug but to genuinely care and connect!!

We need to LOOK at each other to find out what they are going through. Get close enough to recognize the "sent."

"Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people." Eleanor Roosevelt

We all need "fathers" and "mothers" to help us to grow up while feeling safe and protected.

We all need someone in our lives that will help us to grow up and to "scold" us and tell us when we are being stupid.

We need someone in our live who will be willing to take time to groom us to position to succeed.

"You must learn from the mistakes of others. You can't possibly live long enough to make them all yourself."  Sam Levenson

We need to learn from others mistakes.

We need to have those that see the hidden areas of our lives that are out of our line of sight.

Jesus is our ultimate groomer and the Word washes us from the dust of the days journey.

John 13:10 "My concern is holiness not hygiene."

Luke 11:41 "So clean the inside by giving gifts to the poor, and you will be clean all over." (get uncluttered and be generous with what you have.

We need to be the type of people that are so genuine and over the top with our love and affection that God sees us as doing something that is impressive.

“Sister is probably the most competitive relationship within the family, but once the sisters are grown, it becomes the strongest relationship.” Margaret Mead

Lioness Arising - Session 5 Recap.

Under the Same Mission.

  • The lionesses; mothers, daughters, granddaughters, hold the land and protect their young.
  • Lionesses are all about legacy and land.
  • Lions wouldn't dream about doing life with out lionesses.
  • The stronger the lionesses the more they are established with strength.
  • The Lion dominate other males but NOT other females. The lionesses easily submit when they know they are safe.
  • There is no gender issues in the African plane
  • God isn't trying to blend the genders.
  • He's saying lets celebrate the sexes.
  • The addition of women creates health.

Differences were not intended to separate, to alienate. We are different precisely in order to realize our need of one another." Archbishop Desmond Tutu

  • It takes healthy men and women to say they need each other. Healthy people getting together flourish.
  • We are setting up legacies.
  • If you are a true leader you do not feel the need to dominate but to empower others.
  • Weak leaders surround themselves with those they can dominate.
  • What does submission mean?? UNDER MISSION
  • We need to have a mission for our lives, including missions for different seasons.
  • We are smarter together than separate.
  • We need to get the smart people around us.
  • Submission doesn't need to be complicated.
  • When you love each other you do it together.
  • Marriage is not a power struggle but a power union.
  • Stop having a battle of the sexes.
  • Don't use strengths against each other, but use those strengths together. That is part of how we proclaim God's mission.

2 Corinthians 5:19-20 (msg)
All this comes from the God who settled the relationship between us and him, and then called us to settle our relationships with each other. God put the world square with himself through the Messiah, giving the world a fresh start by offering forgiveness of sins. God has given us the task of telling everyone what he is doing. We’re Christ’s representatives. God uses us to persuade men and women to drop their differences and enter into God’s work of making things right between them. We’re speaking for Christ himself now: Become friends with God; he’s already a friend with you.

  • God's mission is to make things right between people.
  • We need to represent what God is doing. Not what we think. Drop our opinions.
  • When you get involved with what God is doing you get excited.
  • Are we preaching a gospel that is persuasive not unconvincing and restrictive.

2 Corinthians 5:17-18 (msg)

1-7 If anyone wants to provide leadership in the church, good! But there are preconditions: A leader must be well-thought-of, committed to his wife, cool and collected, accessible, and hospitable. He must know what he’s talking about, not be overfond of wine, not pushy but gentle, not thin-skinned, not money-hungry. He must handle his own affairs well, attentive to his own children and having their respect. For if someone is unable to handle his own affairs, how can he take care of God’s church? He must not be a new believer, lest the position go to his head and the Devil trip him up. Outsiders must think well of him, or else the Devil will figure out a way to lure him into his trap.
8-13 The same goes for those who want to be servants in the church: serious, not deceitful, not too free with the bottle, not in it for what they can get out of it. They must be reverent before the mystery of the faith, not using their position to try to run things. Let them prove themselves first. If they show they can do it, take them on. No exceptions are to be made for women—same qualifications: serious, dependable, not sharp-tongued, not overfond of wine. Servants in the church are to be committed to their spouses, attentive to their own children, and diligent in looking after their own affairs. Those who do this servant work will come to be highly respected, a real credit to this Jesus-faith.

  • Qualifications would not have been given to women if they were not intended to be part of the leadership of the church.

1 Corinthians 11:10-12 (msg)

10-12 Don’t, by the way, read too much into the differences here between men and women. Neither man nor woman can go it alone or claim priority. Man was created first, as a beautiful shining reflection of God—that is true. But the head on a woman’s body clearly outshines in beauty the head of her “head,” her husband. The first woman came from man, true—but ever since then, every man comes from a woman! And since virtually everything comes from God anyway, let’s quit going through these “who’s first” routines.

Philippians 2:1-4

1-4 If you’ve gotten anything at all out of following Christ, if his love has made any difference in your life, if being in a community of the Spirit means anything to you, if you have a heart, if you care— then do me a favor: Agree with each other, love each other, be deep-spirited friends. Don’t push your way to the front; don’t sweet-talk your way to the top. Put yourself aside, and help others get ahead. Don’t be obsessed with getting your own advantage. Forget yourselves long enough to lend a helping hand.

Forget yourself long enough to lend a helping hand!
Qualify yourself!
What God tells you to do, do it well!!!

Lioness Arising Recap Session 4

Strength is for Service

"Finally one of the lionesses decided to go for it. Her hunger won out over her hesitation. She boldly crossed the line and approached the slain buck. At the halfway point she glanced back to her sister, as though inviting her to join her on the other side of the fence." (pg78 of the book)

Hunger overcomes hesitation, your overwhelming hunger causes you to action.

Have we been hesitating to jump over the threshold?

God is saying I need you to stop hesitating!

As you jump over the threshold look back to those who are behind you. Marking the path of where you are going.

Let those who are following learn from our mistakes.

You don't serve anyone if you are acting afraid.

Romans 15:1-2
Those of us who are strong and able in the faith need to step in and lend a hand to those who falter, and not just do what is most convenient for us. Strength is for service , not status. Each one of us needs to look after the good of the people around us, asking ourselves, "How can I help?"

The Holy Spirit will prompt us in how we should serve.
We should also be willing to ask the question, "How can I help?" Not just assume that we know what they need.

Strength is for service not for status!!

You cannot please everyone, so obey God!

Speak up when God has put the message in your heart with out hesitation.
Never apologize for functioning in obedience to God.

Psalms 34:4-5
I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me.
He freed me from all my fears.
Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy;
no shadow of shame will darken their faces.

Hesitancy=Shadow of shame

Do not allow the spirit of religion to get in!!!

Matthew 23:4-7
"Instead of giving you God’s Law as food and drink by which you can banquet on God, they package it in bundles of rules, loading you down like pack animals. They seem to take pleasure in watching you stagger under these loads, and wouldn’t think of lifting a finger to help. Their lives are perpetual fashion shows, embroidered prayer shawls one day and flowery prayers the next. They love to sit at the head table at church dinners, basking in the most prominent positions, preening in the radiance of public flattery, receiving honorary degrees, and getting called ‘Doctor’ and ‘Reverend.’"

Religion will load you down with rules, make you stagger and cause you to not even be able to help others.

Lets not complicate what is intended to be a simple life.

We as women love to serve and lift up others!

Ezekiel 19:2
"What is your mother? A lioness among lions!"

Lets get behind other women and ask them, "What is your dream?"
Serve others by giving them hope!!!

Joseph interpreted others dreams for years before seeing his own come to pass.
Are we willing to take the time to serve others before ourselves?

God is never finished with us. We will consistently grow by serving!!

Surround yourselves with people that can see your potential and who are willing to honestly bring up issues with the purpose to see that potential to come out!!!

We want to serve so well that we are beyond reproach!!!

Taking less now for ourselves doesn't mean we will have less in the future!
Lets build a LONG LASTING future!!! Going for the blessings beyond the demand for more now!

Lets remember that we serve our husbands and train our children, NOT train our husbands and serve our children!!!!!

2Corinthians 6:11-13
"Dear, dear Corinthians, I can’t tell you how much I long for you to enter this wide-open, spacious life. We didn’t fence you in. The smallness you feel comes from within you. Your lives aren’t small, but you’re living them in a small way. I’m speaking as plainly as I can and with great affection. Open up your lives. Live openly and expansively!"

Lets not live small!!
We need to open up our lives to others generously!!!

What purpose is larger within you that is intended to come out!!???
Everyday of our lives can expand to include more people!!

Lioness Arising Session 3 recap!!!

Here we go everyone!!!
The Sum of Fear and Wonder

The lioness is confident in the creation that she is.
The lioness is the sum of fear and wonder!

I am fearfully and wonderfully made!!!
God created us as something to be in awe of as he set our lives into motion.
Our beauty is not in our looks. Let's not "dumb" ourselves down and slap the face of God!
We were created in the image of Him.
We are walking on the Earth in a day and age of fear. Are we aware of all that is going on?
We need to exemplify the image of God.

Are we so busy that we don't bear any weight?
Are we just busying our lives and not building any strength?
We need to be strong and free.

Micah 4:13 "On your fee, Daughter of Zion! Be threshed of chaff, be refined of dross. I'm remaking you into a people invincible."

Find your feet and deal with your issues!
When was the last time that you felt invincible?

Micah 4:10-12(MSG)
9-10 So why the doomsday hysterics?
You still have a king, don’t you?
But maybe he’s not doing his job
and you’re panicked like a woman in labor.
Well, go ahead—twist and scream, Daughter Jerusalem.
You are like a woman in childbirth.
You’ll soon be out of the city, on your way
and camping in the open country.
And then you’ll arrive in Babylon.
What you lost in Jerusalem will be found in Babylon.
God will give you new life again.
He’ll redeem you from your enemies.
11-12 But for right now, they’re ganged up against you,
many godless peoples, saying,
“Kick her when she’s down! Violate her!
We want to see Zion grovel in the dirt.”
These blasphemers have no idea
what God is thinking and doing in this.
They don’t know that this is the making of God’s people,
that they are wheat being threshed, gold being refined.
Are you going to allow seasons of hardship to cause you to rise above?
"They" have no idea as to what God is doing through those trials!!!!
We need to be pillars of strength!
"I am not afraid. I was born for this!" Joan of Arc
Revelation 3:1-3 (MSG)
“I see right through your work. You have a reputation for vigor and zest, but you’re dead, stone-dead.

2-3 “Up on your feet! Take a deep breath! Maybe there’s life in you yet. But I wouldn’t know it by looking at your busywork; nothing of God’s work has been completed. Your condition is desperate. Think of the gift you once had in your hands, the Message you heard with your ears—grasp it again and turn back to God.
“If you pull the covers back over your head and sleep on, oblivious to God, I’ll return when you least expect it, break into your life like a thief in the night.

You look all busy but none of this is what brings life!!

We NEED to know the difference between a FULL LIFE and just being busy!!!!

Revelation 3:15-18

The Message (MSG)
15-17 “I know you inside and out, and find little to my liking. You’re not cold, you’re not hot—far better to be either cold or hot! You’re stale. You’re stagnant. You make me want to vomit. You brag, ‘I’m rich, I’ve got it made, I need nothing from anyone,’ oblivious that in fact you’re a pitiful, blind beggar, threadbare and homeless.
18 “Here’s what I want you to do: Buy your gold from me, gold that’s been through the refiner’s fire. Then you’ll be rich. Buy your clothes from me, clothes designed in Heaven. You’ve gone around half-naked long enough. And buy medicine for your eyes from me so you can see, really see.

Revelation 3:19-22

The Message (MSG)
19 “The people I love, I call to account—prod and correct and guide so that they’ll live at their best. Up on your feet, then! About face! Run after God!
20-21 “Look at me. I stand at the door. I knock. If you hear me call and open the door, I’ll come right in and sit down to supper with you. Conquerors will sit alongside me at the head table, just as I, having conquered, took the place of honor at the side of my Father. That’s my gift to the conquerors!
22 “Are your ears awake? Listen. Listen to the Wind Words, the Spirit blowing through the churches.”
The people I love I call in account with intense assessments.

When we cry out for God we ask for God to cloth us.
We need to take the hardship and create eyes to see the prophetic!

To step into our beauty is to hour God.
He is enthralled with us.
If you let what God says about you and let it wash over you, those things that come at you will not have the power to effect you.

We need to radiate our beauty!

"Our thoughts create our reality - where we put our focus is the direction we tend to go." Peter Mc WIlliams

It's not enough to be captivating if we are still captive!
It's not enough to fight if we are just fighting for ourselves!
It's not enough to be loved and lovely if we forget that He loves them!
It's not enough to go that mile if you forget there are people waiting at then end of that two mile journey
It's not enough to give the one cheek if you are not willing to turn the other cheek and find out what's behind that slap!

We need to be designated of God!!
We are need to develop our strength to not be invisible but invincible.
Jesus needs to assess our lives by the light of His Word!

My week.

My week
Before I start into the weekly recap of the Lioness Arising, I need to tell you all that this week has been far from a perfect week. It always amazes me when you know God is doing something powerful that the enemy starts to seep his way in to try to distract and derail you from your focus on the greater call He has for your life. I woke up on Wednesday morning with a HUGE feeling of oppression. I was physically fatigued, emotionally strained, and spiritually weak. Things that typically don't knock me down were tugging and pulling my peace away. I felt overwhelmed and tired. I reached out to my mom and vented a little and she automatically said that I need to ask some of my friends for prayer!! (Praise the Lord for mothers of great faith!) So with the guidance of my mom I emailed a few of my prayer warrior women!! That day I got letters of prayer and encouragement and I felt a bit of the dark cloud lift.
That night I headed to our Life Group. Still struggling to lift my head out of the water. But God is so good and so faithful. I was honest with our incredible group of ladies as we introduced the night and asked for prayer. I believe with all of my heart that through our choice to be real and not fake that we can grow the most. Grow in relationship with each other and with God. When we choose not to put on a front, but to embrace the trials that each of us go through and ask for help, that's where we see God work in miraculous ways!!!
Last night Adam put on worship music for us to fall sleep and wake to and with the support of those women of prayer, this morning, the oppression lifted. God covered our bedroom with peace and gave me a picture of Adam and I worshiping together. I couldn't ask for a more encouraging image to move into my day with!!!

To all of you who are fighting the oppression of the enemy today, lift up your eyes to the Lord. Take a deep breath knowing that God is right there beside you and has been all this time. All you needed to do is pull that curtain away from your face and see that He has never left you!! (

Blessings my friends knowing that you are not alone. Allow God to reveal to you the women that are around you that can encourage, support and pray for you!! Open up your lives to others. A fulfilling life is a life lived with others!!!
